I'm new to the hobby and just bought a 120gl tank. 48x24x24. It has a icecap 660 for the lighting. well my ? is, it has no bulbs and i don't know what to buy. I know i need t12 bulbs, but what color etc. Also, it has only one plug. Do I run all the bulbs at once or is there a way or should I run one color at once then another? please help me with this system. thanks! :happyfish

get two 03 antics and 2 10'000 kelven bulbs from your lfs and let all lights come on at the same time

many on this site recommend URI bulbs. You would want 4 bulbs - 110 watts each. 2 actinic and 2 50/50 (actinic white) I think is the most popular combo. Some go with 2 aqua sun (10K's) instead of the 50/50 but the URI Aquasuns are very pink.

I have an Icecap 660 with a 4 bulb system. My lfs only had 3 bulbs left so I am missing one out of the 4. When I go to turn on the lights they turn on for 2 secs then right back off. Is this because I'm missing a bulb or do you think it's something else? Thanks!

I agree with Pro Truck for the most part. I run 2- URI Super Actinic, 1- URI white actinic & 1- 6500k NO ( GE "Daylight" normal output bulb from DH) The 6500k seems to offset the very blue look a bit and brighten the tank. Plus the 6500k bulbs are like $5, so its at least worth checking it out. It really depends on how you personally want your tank to look. HTH
