Hello everyone I have 265 reef tank that i have had for several years. I have lots of different kinds of leathers and tangs, clowms, anommones. I have a lot (no pics). My lighting was 4 72 in vho 2 actinic and 2 white. It was beatiful, Of course the more ur in the hobby the more u want so i want more lighting. I went back in forth 2 more 72 in vho or 2 175 metal. I went with the metals and of course i put them on each side of the tank, I had a little dark area in the middle so i ordered a 250 for the middle. So now i have 250 10 k in the middle 175 metal on each side so a total of 2 175 10 k as well. and i put 4 actinic vho. Its ok but to be honest i liked the vho much better then the metals. So if there anyone else outthere that is thinking about which light to buy i would go with the vho all the way. No heat, low cost and just a beatiful tank.

For heat purposes I agree. VHOs are nice.
For PAR however, halides clobber VHO's. For light intensive corals, MHs are the way to go. Supplement them with vho actinics and you're set.
