VHO or Power Compacts??

So whats up people??? Doesn't anyone have any recommendations? Pros and Cons? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

i have PCs and i like them. VHO are known for having beter actinic light than the PCs, but as i said, i like my PCs.
what size is your tank? you could go with a combination of both. VHO actinic and PC 10K daylights.

VHO will run hotter than PC, but I like the flexibility that the VHO setup gives me. I used PCs on my old 55 until the ballast blew for no reason. When I replaced the tank with a 75, I went with VHO. I really can't say that I notice any difference in the light from either.

IMO if you have a big tank VHO is the way to go if space concerns you then PC

I agree with Alan, PCs work better over a smaller tank, and VHO for a larger tank, but that's JMO.

What's wrong with metal halide? Is that not a choice for you? I have a bow front corner tank with a 250W MH pendant hanging from the ceiling. I love it.

I like PCs, but I think it comes down to personal preference. PCs seem to be better adapted to smaller tanks that are awkward for VHO. JMO

PCs waste less electricity.
PCs waste less space.
PCs also run cooler, than VHO's.
PCs bulbs last up to a year.
VHO have a better blue spectrum.
VHO bulbs last 4-6 months.
PCs are my choice and the 10,000 are great!!!!

I think the VHOs give better coloration than PCs. Again, PCs for smaller tanks and VHOs for larger ones.
