VHO's - will in-canopy lighting damage tank?

I am setting up a used 90 gal reef. The tank is an acrylic Nova 90 gal. The tank currently has regular 48" tubes under the canopy , but I am thinking about putting VHO tubes in (the seller gave me new ballasts for VHO). My concern is that these may melt/warp the top of the acrylic tank - will this be a problem? The lights tubes would be about 4 inches above the top of the tank - also the top has a fan at either end.

I'd suggest that you contact the tank manufacture and get an opition. Also, what is the canopy made of? Will it take the added heat?
I can say from using VHO's that Icecap eballasts run very cool.
