ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer

I am setting up a new tank (55gal). I am about to purchase a skimmer and no nothing about them. I have found a ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer which can be purchased with a 5W UV Sterilizer built in for around $118 (model #VA2313). When compared to the Prizm Protein Skimmer Deluxe and a seperate UV sterilizer this is less than half price. Any advice or info in the reliability/function of the ViaAqua Multi-Skimmer.

That is the one I have on my 55. It is the only one I have ever had, but when I empty the collection cup, it is full of some nasty green stuff so it must be working. I like it.

Hello I have one and it works great but if I had to do it again I would buy a Breiln protein skimmer and a uv Sterilizer by it self because of the fact that the filter meida needs to be clean often and if you don't buy extra your stuck.

would that skimmer work for anything bigger than a 55 g

are you considering going bigger than a 30?if so i would say a small Euro-Reef.

not too much bigger than a 30 and i looked at the price difference. Its Way too much for me
