Pretty short. Around 12 months. Unfortunately a small egged species as well so raising the hatchlings is unheard of on the hobby level.

I hear octopus are EXTREMELY difficult to keep in captivity, how true is this? is there any liknk you could iether post or PM me on info about the more harider of species? Im thinking waay down the road about getting one so I figured now is as good a time as any to start the research process. Thanks

They are NOT extremely difficult to keep. I think this gets confused with their short lifespan. The only difficulties in keeping them are A) sealing the tank and equipment properly, and B) being prepared to offer live saltwater foods if it doesn't accept frozen foods.
If you can keep corals successfully, you can keep an octopus.
