I am about to buy 2 Viper MHs for !50 and was wondering how long do bulbs typically last and is 300watts of MH light to much for a 20 gallon long (only about 13 inchs deep)

300 watts on a 20 gallon tank is a lot!! is each fixture 150 watts? If each one is 150 watts, just use one of them.

Ok thats what I was thinking but I wasn't sure.. I kinda liked the idea of using 2 only to illuminate most of the tank (20gallon Long length=30") Thanks for the input, do you have any suggestions on how i can make sure most of the tank will be covered (or do i need to not worry about that)

Height adjustment is key to it working well. start out high and over a couple of days up the lighting per hour and move the lamp closer til you hit your spot. You are doing this to light acclimate your corals.
