vodka to give my tank a drink or not

Vodka is used to increase the bacterial growth in the tank, which would make processing excess nutrients a lot faster. I only know of really experienced reefkeepers with SPS-dominated tanks dosing vodka weekly. A few easier alternatives would be to simply increase the skimming, lower bioload, less feeding, etc.

yeah, ive never seen someone dose vodka if they had any softies like even zoos or mushrooms because they need some nutrients while SPS do much better with none. over dosing can cause some serious problems too.

You need to install a liver...
Actually, that sounds like a complete waste of alcohol.

CT here too.
As far as controlling nitrates, nothing works as good as a skimmer, proper feeding and care, and water changes
