Volitan Lion Mucus fest!?

I was cleaning my tank today and after about 10 minutes of moving live rock around, pouring and removing water, etc (in other words, basically being rough towards them) my tank filled up with about 1/2 GALLON! of stringy clear mucus. my best guess is that the lion excreted its venom into the water. Has this every happened to anyone? I had to remove it with a net and do a 40% water change! What else could it be?

Naw....the lion didn't let loose his venom. It was his mucus coat. They shed it every so often. Mine lets his go about once a month or so.....
Won't hurt a thing.
BTW, watch that trigger in your tank. Triggers are known to nip the spines off of lions.

thats normal , mine does that too. the first time i seen that happen i thought my lion was sick .... then i found out it was just shedding

lionfish and many sedentary predators have whats called a cuticle. This is a thin membranous coating on their bodies. This prevent unwanted things from settling on their bodies. They shed it every so often. You can also use it as a sign of good health, and poor water quality. If they are shedding frequently, then this is a probolem, if they shed it every once in a while then things are fine.
Its not a venom nor toxin. Its just membrane, and you should have no problem w/ the stuff
Let me ask can you get your ribbon eel to eat? w/ sall those faster movers and eating machines how do you feed that ribbon?
The niger trigger should be fine w/ the lion. Nigers, are a more predictable, mellow trigger. Its the huma, picasso, clowns, etc which are bad news
