is there anyway i can train him not to eat live fish or silver slides?
also have a valentini puffer that will only eat live brine

First, don't feed him for a few days. Then get the silversides/krill/whatever and impale it on a feederstick, or drop it infront of a powerhead (to make it move, movement = life.) If the lion doesn't accept at first, be patient, it could take a few weeks. Try doing the same for the valentini...

i have tried the krill on a feederstick a few times he just doesnt seem interested i no a few people that feed theres flake food this live fish stuff has gotta stop but i will try silverslides next thnx for the info

My lion started eating frozen krill & dried shrimp after 1 week. I would hold a piece of frozen shrimp in the top of the water wiggle it a little so he thinks its alive and away he goes. He comes up every time I go buy the tank looking for a feeding he will even eat formula 1 cubes that I feed my angel he is a pig I feed him 3 times a week (never feed gold fish to your lion my friend lost a lion due to gold fish!)
