Volitans Lion Fish - Moving too far from food source and must be given away.

Hello all:
I'm a long-time lurker and I could use some advice. I have had a volitans lion in my 105 gallon tank for almost a full year. He has only grown by maybe an inch at most, and his body is now at most, 4.5 inches. He just recently starting getting more color as he is growing and spots on his tail come and go. (the brown spots. Good ones. ;-) )
In any event, I am very concerned for it. The fish has never eaten any type of frozen food, and only eats live foods. I have tried everything. The longest I made him wait was 10 days. He seemed happy and healthy, but I just couldn't wait him out anymore, and went back to live. He is skinny and I know needs someone to work with him to get him to eat frozen foods so it's not just freshwater feeders and ghost shrimp.
Unfortunately, I am about to have to travel several times this year for a few weeks at a time, and there will people who can take care of the tank, but, not feed live foods. In addition, in 9 months I am moving to the country and will be relocating the entire tank. At that time I will be too far to consistently purchase live foods.
So I must give him away. I am not interested in making any money. I just want him to go to a good home. Does anyone have advice here as to how I can find him a good home? I don't really want him to go to a LFS because it would be too stressful and I don't know who I trust in the area enough.
If anyone here wants him, I am happy to ship. I would like to ship sometime before the summer as the weather will get too hot. I'll take him in a bucket to the LFS and have him bagged properly and ship in styrofoam overnight. Otherwise, does anyone have an recommendations for where I can post to find someone interested? Locally I am in The Woodlands, TX, just north of Houston.
I am including photos of him.

Your fish is not P. volitans...it's P. russelii (Russel's Lionfish), which are often sold as "red volitans". It won't get as large as a volitans (about 10" or so), but the fact that it hasn't grown much in a year suggests it's malnourished. It also appears pretty thin. It's a VERY pretty specimen tho.
We can help you with weaning techniques and the best tool to deliver the food if you want to keep the fish. However, I'll post a link to this thread over on our web site, where lots of lion-lovers hang out (we even have some peeps in TX).

Saxman - Thank you! I have been trying to correctly identify him for a while now. I always thought he was a Russel's, but, I had several people insist that he was not. He is developing the spots on his anal and tail fins like a volitans that I haven't seen on a Russel's.
He is definitely thin. I have been traveling a lot and at times am only home once a week, and, there have been two times I have not while home been able to get live food, hence our problems. :-
I'd love to get some great tips on transitioning him to frozen food, especially if there are uncommon methods I may not have read about...
And also, if there happens to be someone who wants him and can give him a good home, it may be for the best. . . so I would appreciate the repost!

I'm sure I can give him a good home. I have to buy live food anyway and can try weaning him.
I'm up in Frisco though so I would prefer shipping. Zip is 75025

Brett,
Howard's a good guy and a sharp scorp keeper if you go that route.
Russel's lionfish sometimes DO have a few spots on their caudal and median fins, which is likely what was fooling you. However, look at it's stripe pattern and the lack of markings beneath its chin...definitely a Russel's.
Here's a good article on weaning your fish:

Renee (Cranberry here on SWF) is very geeky when it comes to nutrition, so she's a great resource on that subject.
