I had my tessa in a 55 gallon for maybe 6 months with a goldentail moray (both maybe 18 inches long) until I moved them into a 125. Just my opinion but from my experience with my honeycomb a 70 gal. seems fine depending on her size. They are really not very active. She will rearange your rock and move your sand untill she makes herself her own little cave anyway on one side of the tank. Like I said, just my opinion but I hope you went with the tessa. She is a joy to me.

Hmmm I see the Zebra is popular as well, maybe I'm missing something and should look into getting one for a different tank if they are that well loved.

do you think i could get both of them in the 70 for about 1-2 years and then upgrade?
the last time i went (LONG TIME AGO) they had a tesse that was about a foot long and a zebra the same size....they also had other eels like chainlink, white eyed, banded, yellow head and snowflake.

You could totally get both and then upgrade!!! Tessas get big, but they aren't as active as the others so you could do both in a 70 but you WOULD have to upgrade eventually.

no not really...they don't grow too fast. I would have the new tank cycled and ready to go in a 1 and a half though...2 years is REALLY pushing it.
