What would you run on a
glass 15 gall tall
30ish LBS or LR cycled
20lbs live sand
2x80 gph pumps
1x300gph powerhead
1 70w hqi MH
also if you would remove some equipment, such as the 300gph or the 2 80's.
Goal: coral softies and SPS with yellow watchman two false perc's cleaner shimp and emrald and a few hermits.

what are the pumps for? Are they just for more water movement? 300 gph is gonna be a lot of flow already, you might want to shoot for more like 150-200 gph on your PH.
I would recommend an AquaClear 110 or you could get a HOB refugium and a small protein skimmer. 30 lbs of LR would give you a fairly decent bio-filter when fully cured.

I guess I should have put this in I have the seaclone 100 skimmer yes the powerheads are all for water movement in the DT.
So Volitan you say ditch the one 300gph and keep the two 80 gph's? is 10.6 x turn over hr. + the skimmer good for sps and softies?

i say put the 300 to the side, and see what happens. Sps like lots of flow so you might need the 300 by itself. but first try the 2 80's, you just want to avoid sandstorms and direct hit to corals. that skimmer is ok but not needed if you stick with the weekly ro/di water change rituals..you'll be ok.
i would recommend to go with the softies for awhile before doing sps..

I have a 15 Gallon High, I run a AquaClear HOB Filter with carbon and chaeto and an Aqua C Remora Skimmer.
Edit:
Each hanging on back, HOB filter on the left with full flow, and the skimmer on the right, with an AquaClear20 PH at half power, right under the skimmer output to break up bubbles.

Actually if I remember right, 10-15x turnover is ideal...correct me if I'm wrong.
The only reason I say no to the skimmer is because of all the nutrients it sucks out. If you can keep on top of it with supplements and such it's fine.

I agree with Volitan I think I will get the Fluval 405 that the LFS has there $80 used and there going to give me $50 for my skimmer. I think i will do that and just fill it up with LR rubble. I had good success witht that in my 125G w/ wet dry. then the canister will be puting out 350gph on a scwid that would look alot "cleaner" than it dose now and its only one pump so that would be cool. Thanks guys.

I went with the canister, it wasn't a Fluval like I thought they carry Cascade. It’s cool though they threw in a flugal surface skimmer. The cascade model they have is cool it has a priming hand pump on top. You just push it a few times and its completely primed. its only two stages so I have carbon and LR rubble, and the return is on a spray bar.
