The 1000sss is a better choice out of the two... but to be honest, I think you would be more happy with the SRO 1000INT with the bubble blaster pump. It's also the right dimensions for you and it has a much better, much quieter pump.

I'm stupid. Went out today and bought tiger pods to see what will happen if I just gave it a jump start. Well here it is I made an easy dinner for my fish. I poured them into the fuge and the fish went nuts in the dt I hope I didn't lose all of them. I did quickly shut down everything for about 20 minutes to give the pods a chance We shall see. Dinner for fish $19.99 my dinner $6.95 priceless.
I am not a patient person. I can't just walk away

I think they have to be acclimated to survive and breed, you can't just dump them in unless it's for food. ...Why do I know that????? I did it 3Xs before I read up and found out why no matter how much I seeded my tank, they just never took off. So 1X, it's not so hard a lesson.
I acclimated the next batch and to honest I noticed no difference....until 5 months later, I have pods everywhere!

Well have not done much to my tank just being patient and watching what comes out. I have a small cyano problem in my fuge but just leaving the lights off except for two hours of the day. Don't know how you use a turkey baster but i have no luck. I'm doing by hand. I have only 3 green chromis in my tank due to one being picked on. I have seen no bugs, pods, or worms yet. I have a small jelly looking thing in the tank it looks like an utter upside down I believe it might be aiptasia ready to pounce if that is what it is. I wanted to change my list of fish and see if it was ok. I wanted to add a diamond goby in to the pot and was wondering if it could work? I have algae all over the DT tank from neon looking green, to a fan looking algae. Not really worried yet as I have not added any cuc or fish to eat it yet. Qt tank is up and running just don't have the money for fish. lol. I want my skimmer but that is 350 or 300 depending on which one.
so this is me

I ordered my reef octopus ex 1000sss today so excited. I am having one heck of an algae problem so hopefully time and the skimmer will help. My test results for phosphate reads low but due to the algae in the tank I think its false. I will not post pics of a crappy tank.... My chaeto is growing and looking good. The emerald crab in my tank is fun to watch love him just picking.

The lemonpeel dwarf angelfish I know are great hair algae eaters. The skimmer is a good one, I love mine. As you remove the overgrowth of (Chaeto) macroalgae (called harvesting) you will be removing the phosphates from the system. You may not want to post a picture of a crappy tank, but take the picture anyway so you can use it sometime to show someone the before and after. You will be surprised how often folks have tank problems, and as you learn you may want to help others, and those pictures will come in handy.

If I'm not mistaken, tiger pods cannot reproduce in our tanks. Could be wrong but that's what I've read.

Ups (I hate them since I work for usps but it was free shipping) will be dropping by today with the skimmer is there anything I have to watch out for when installing it. I used my hanna checker today and my phosphate read .04 ppm. I'm guessing I need to do a little work but that will come. Will the skimmer help my phosphate come down any?
Stupid question everyone says use a toothbrush to clean your rock. How about using a pot scrubbing brush or is it to hard? Yes it will be brand new from the store and boiled clean.
Ran a 200 micron sock last night and the sock is very dirty. I am planning on replacing it now but what is the norm for the sock I have a lite bio load but have the algae problem.

No, it has nothing to do with phosphates...a skimmer removes organic matter from the water

and mark it FISH ONLY...vegetable brush, will work as well.

The reason to not use a BOILED brush is that the soap or toothpaste is still in the bristles and if you boil it all you do is boil it into the brush, not remove it. A new brush will cost a $1.00 if you got to the dollar store.
LOL...I missed the brand new from the store part, sorry...you don't have to boil a brand new brush, just rinse it real good.

I love my new skimmer ro 1000sss. I had a little trouble getting it started but thanks to you all It is up and running. I had time to clean the algae off the rock today with a pot scrubbing brush. I am making a lot of progress with the algae of late and see the light in the tunnel. I see a big difference when I change my filter sock everyday. I see no signs of pods. Thinking of making a order from swf and wanted your opinion.
order
50 snails
1 diamond goby
2 peppermint shrimp
some coral
pods
how does this look and will this be to much of a swing if I add this at one time.

I have both a yellow headed sleeper goby and a lawnmower blenny. Both are really fun to watch. The way the goby sifts the sand is so neat and he is always busy. The blenny has so much personality. Good luck you seem to be about as patient as I am. Just make SURE you QUARANTINE!!!!! Have had a bout with ICH 2 times. I FINALLY have learned my lesson. It is so hard to get the fish out of the tank if you have an issue.

Well i missed the free shipping so I will get something later. Im working on getting everything stable. Thanks to snake and his advice on my stand for a skimmer we have it at a steady level and I got bubbles and almost a full cup. Still cant figure how to get pods alive in the tank.
have to say I love my hanna phosphate checker. Measured 2 nights ago was at .05 then I hooked up my phosphate reactor with kent phosphate sponge and boy in 24 hours I have .00.
The personality of my fox face is incredible we named him spike.

That's awesome. Glad everything is looking up. It's easy to start stabilizing a system - but it does take time. Sometimes people aren't as patient at you are. You'll do well in this hobby.
