Walmart tank owners

I HAD a 55gal Walmart tank, I was having it drilled and the tank shattered. A tag on the bottom says that the Bottom is tempered. So I assume that the rest of the tank is NOT. We'll I found out the hard way. The LFS who was drilling the tank assumed the same thing because the all-glass tank he had on hand had the same exact tag and the all-glass is able to be drilled. Beware if you try and drill the Walmart tank. This in no way is a slam on walmart for the tank. I had a 50/50 chance and lost. Just figured I would pass on the info.

I have seen tampered glass succesfully drilled before, it just depends on how skillful the person drilling it is........I have a friend that has a walmart tank that has been drilled

I agree that drilling is a skill and a risk.

Wal-mart uses tempered glass all around the tank because they can use a thinner glass and make their product cheaper that way. I think the phrase "You get what you pay for" applies here in a big way.

you'd have to see it in person to believe it, I've personally seen it done otherwise I'd think it's bs
