Walmart water?

You can buy it in gallon jugs like at Walmart but how big of a tank do you have and what sort of lights are you running? If you have to top-off a lot of water each week, it would be wise to invest in an RO/DI system. They don't cost that much off a certain auction site!
If you buy it at Walmart, make sure it is purified water and not just spring water. I think if you look on the label, you will find something like purified using reverse osmosis or something like that.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I dont have specs yet because I have not started one yet. I am however going to use a 29 gallon tank, with a fluval and a skimmer. Not sure on the lights yet. (FOWLR) Any suggestions?

invest in a TDS meter you can then test any water you introduce into your tank
+1.
A cheap but good investment!

Plus you will find yourself testing all sorts of water like what comes out of your tap.

Yeah, but I doubt any tap water is good. Either way thx and ill definately be investing in one.
I just want to make sure you know that I wasn't suggesting you use your tap water. I just find it interesting to test so you can see how much junk is in your tap water. I believe mine reads 60+ ppm.

Oh I know. But it is ok to use RO/DI water from walmart right if you don't have access to a water system? ***** here in TX actually sells their salt water by the gallon from their tanks. Not too sure I trust their water though.

I know I would never use ***** water in my tanks!!

Some fish stores also sell RO/DI water so you can check them out too. They don't sell their tank water but rather use their own RO unit. Mine sells water for $.50 a gallon. I still would test the water with the TDS before using because you never know when they last changed their filters.
Yeah look for purified water at Walmart and test it with your TDS meter before using it.
