My uncle has a 55g FOWLR tank thats been up and running over a year. We would to give him a fish or 2. Heres what he has in his tank Flame Angel, 6 line wrassse, a Royal Gramma, and a couple of clowns, is there anything we could add?

I don't know about compatibility, but I just got a few clown gobies for my 55. They're really cute and small. And green!

how about a foxface? some people think that a 55 is too small but as long as there isnt TOO much liverock you should be fine!

Unless your involved and really know the wishes of his tank I would offer him a gift card to use instead. I'm very protective of my tank and would probably not enjoy a fish for a present unless I specifically asked for it.
I'm not trying to deflate your aspirations just giving you another angle to think about.

i didnt really think about that but now that you mention it i would really not like it if some one tried to buy somthing for my tank with me not knowing it!
i do think that it a great thought to get him somthing but you may want to take him with you so he can pick out somthing that he likes!

1. First, who is taking care of the tank?
2. Maybe just start a casual conversation about the tank and see if you can get him to mention what he had in mind.

3. The problem I see also is you have 2 territoroal fish already in there, and they may not go along with your plans.
Just a few thoughts. I have firefish( probably get picked on) and a b. cardinal. I love gobies and blennies. Wide choice there though.

Are there any fish / stars to aerate the sand?
If not, I recommend the diamond watchman goby (silver fish with orange diamonds placed throughout).
They do a good job of filtering through the substrate (without doing much damage to the aquascape) and they're funny guys to watch.
I would only recommend it, though, if the tank has a canopy over it (I had one in my 30 gallon and it jumped out
).
Good luck with your decision.. There are plenty of options out there

He will take care of his Aquarium, he has someone looking after it while he's been gone. He knows there could be a problem with the fish he already has if he adds 1 or 2 more. He really wanted a yellow fish of some kind, a active colorful fish would be fine, as long as it gets along with the others.

Do not ever just give someone a fish or two. The fish may not be wanted, may not go with their plans for the tank, or may not get along with other fish in the tank. They may be ones that grow too big for the tank. He may not want more bioload, may not have a quarenteen tank set up etc. Ask him if he would like more fish and exactly what kind. Take him to pick it out. I would hate for someone to just pick out a fish for me and put it in the tank for a surprise. One person on here said his young son did that for a surprise without even asking, plopped it in the tank without quarenteening, and it brought a disease in that wiped out all of his prized fish. Maybe a nice saltwater fish book or some new gadget for the hobby would be better. Lesley
Oh...I just thought of something that almost everyone around here really likes that gets along with everything, are really entertaining, and will not bring in disease if the water from the store is not dumped into the tank...get him a scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp or two. They are colorful, and will not add to the bioload, or not get along with the fish. They eat food left behind from the fish. Almost everyone who has them likes them. Lesley

I agree with Lesley here. Don't just buy a fish for his tank. There is an entire process that new fish go through before they hit the display. He may not be equiped for it.
