I want to get a tank started that looks cool but doesn't break the bank. What would be the coolest thing that I could get set up for around 200 bucks? Could you guys help me get it put together?
Thanks :cheer:

Nothing really MH lights are about 200 bucks. But I guess you can get a 20 gallon or so if you dont want to spend much get some Live sand/Live rock. You can also do that and just add on new lighting and corals as you go on establishing a tank.

the only thing is with a FO tank you will not have the benefits of filteration... therefore it would just be cheaper to have a FOwLR... I have just begun a tank.. (30g) and it takes some money.. and lots of knowledge i suggest you spend any free time readin lots of threads on this forum!!
in addition.. just like salty said.. lights can be $200 + depending on the type of course... so can protein skimmers and the list goes on...
I would say pick a decent size tank and you can spend $ as you go...
for instance to start a tank... all you really need is:
tank
water
salt
heater
some way of circulating the water

Not to be discouraging, but in the saltwater world $200 will not get you very far. You will be lucky to find a decent tank for that much, It is everything thing else (equipment, rock, sand, fish...) that adds up being 5x as much as the tank...no joke. If you can't spend more...get yourself a sweet freshwater tank...much much cheaper...& easier. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Ok, get a tank...any size and demensions you'd like, it doesn't really make a difference for this demonstration b/c it works for every size tank...
ok, got yer tank? good.
Now PACK it to the BRIM with Hundred Dollar Bills. Go on, REALLY stuff 'em in there - u got some room on the sides there...
ok, great.
Now THAT is how much money you're going to be putting into your tank.
........to start.........
