I doubt the whole video.
It looks real, but the only thing that makes me doubt it is seeing those other two surfers out there laying on their boards as he and the shark go right past them. I would think that they would be making an effort to get out of the water.

The shark doesn't dive to get away ?
The shark leaves a nice wake behind it ?
The other surfers are watching this go down ?
He is fishing from his board while others are surfing around him ?
Somebody just happens to be video taping it ?

Yea, the 'shark' swims very laterally to the beach. He never changed course once, even though some of the waves. I don't think I've ever hooked up with a fish that doesn't go left or right some, let alone down or up in the water. Also can't believe the guy taping missed when the shark hooked up.

My first thought when I saw the title of this thread was, "Yes, with Ophiura" Then I realzied you did not mean that type of shark.
Kudos to them for hooking up whatever device they used for pulling him in the water. I was thinking it was a remote controlled thing, but then thought it was probably one of those devices they use fur pulling divers along with. You know the things the bad guys in James Bond movies always use.

After watching the video several more times, I think I figured it out. There is a VERY BRIEF segment in the middle, when he is surfing past the other surfers on their boards, that you can actually see a "wake" and churned up water ahead of the shark fin. This can only be a boat, which is towing a device, and the surfer's rope(rod) is tied to this device.
Still, I think it was a cool video. And he was still pretty brave (or stupid) to jump in off of a pier full of fishermen with hooks in the water.
