Alix,
If I may ask, why a 75 gal over a 55
It seems to me that you are only gaining 5" in width. Everything else stays the same, (length & height) except 200 more pounds. Is this because you want to stock bigger fish? I would think that length is what everyone desires. My 2 cents.

I had a 55 and upgraded to a 75 and man I like the 75 soooo much better!! It is so much easier to aquascape

If your gonna upgrade you must get a 125 im a tang lover, and we have a 210 in the office for triggers, you can get a 75 and get away with a baby tang for a year or 2 but try and buy the equipment used, seriously if you can get a deal its worth it my wife wont let me get anymore tanks even though i'm in hawaii with her now bored lol and she wont let me play golf more than 2 rounds...but this guy lives likes 3 blocks from my cousin in NYC and he's selling a 120 gallon 5 feet long tank with stand practically new with a 30 gallon sump wet dry and fancy canopy and lighting etc...for $499 thats prob way less than your gonna spend for a new 75 or 55..try to get deals in your area or buy equipment online is the best advice I can give you. Six line and Mandarin is fine I have them in my 125 Reef for almost a year everything is cool.

I use Reef Crystals for over 18 months it is great for reefs and I get them in bulk very cheap about $25 for a 5 gallon bucket. It's loaded with trace elements and no dosing is really needed unless you want to do specifics. The shipping is very reasonable and it comes out to be about $27.99 after shipping. I ususally buy 2-3 at a time.
Espkh9....where are you finding -- for $25 a 5 gal bucket?

yeah i went to the LFS last night to finish paying for the 75 and i ended up just buying another bag of IO, i guess when i start the new tank im going to use -- i just wanted to get out of there fast & it was the cheapest i could get. whatev.
yeah i do like getting used stuff because there practically no resale value for this stuff people just give it away.

I would set up the tank with IO and then switch to -- once you start adding corals, unless you can figure out where those $25 5-gal -- buckets are coming from...I'm curious myself.

I just switched from -- to Coralife, after doing a lot of research and comparing test that were done on all the salts. I had a problem with the cal. levels in reef crystals, normally it was running around 350. Some say they get better but thats what I tested and it was in line with what the testings that were done by testing facalities. I just did a fairly large water change using coralife and so far no problems, the cal. tested at 450ppm, alk was 2.6 to 2.8 mg/l and mag. at 1360. I bought the bucket for 150 gal. mix and they had it seperated in three 50 gal. mix resealable bags, which made it easy to mix up before using. total with shipping was aroung $48. and they also thru in a cool t-shirt

if you ever do decide to go with tropic marin, be advised that the "pro" was specifically designed for people who have a calcium reactor.
just use the regular tm if you don't have one.
I'm still an oceanic fan, but I guess that would be considered "crazy expensive" huh?

I get it online from a reputable online pet store. My LFS sells it for $50 a 5 gallon bucket for --. I pay under $30.

No, definately not that one...shipping/handling is rediculous. I researched several but even with shipping, for me it would be $43. But if you go ahead and get more than one bucket, shipping gets really cheap, making it well worth the money.

I agree that the pro has a higher calcium than most salt brands mine at a salinity of 1.026 comes in around 480 still no need to just use the pro with a reactor very false statement I have been using it for about a year I used regular TM and was unhappy with the mag and DKH but the PRO is close to perfect on all levels
