Wanted: pics of successful sump/fuge

I see a lot of pictures of plans for sumps/fuges but I am never sure if the plans that were shown worked or not. If you have pictures of your successful sumps/fuges, could you post them?
Thanks!

Your other option is to visit melevsreef.com. There are specific dirctions, with pictures, of DIY projects that include sump/refugiums. You should not build one yourself without at least a quick visit to that site.

Yes, I have looked at his website before. It is interesting and has a lot of good info but most of the designs he has are more complicated than I want to get. His 20 gallon was the closest thing to what I want to build but there are no specs on it (unless I missed that which is very possible).
I just want a very simple picture that shows how tall I should make the baffles, how tall the tank is, and what goes were kinda photo

My PO4's and NO3's are most always O, which obviously means it is functioning as designed, so I guess that means it is succesful. This design is tried and true, but I also feel a high turnover with Chaeto is very important as well. I have 40X turnover through my fuge.
To figure out how much water will be displaced from your DT, take the L*W and divide this number by 231. This will give you the approximate gallons that will backflush in the event of a power outage. What size sump/fuge are you planning on using? Once I know this and the amount of backflush I can help give you an idea of the height of your baffles.
A few pictures and the basic diagram of my set up.

Thanks for the pics Hurt. That looks easy enough to do. I don't know why making this fuge has been so intemidating for me. I am all about DIY, but I have had a hard time just getting started on this project.

I thought the same way 2 (and I am not even a DIY person), but when I saw HURT'S design, the same he just showed you, I took the plunge and did it myself, love it and couldn't be happier. It's very very ugly the way I did it, but if it works and it's under my tank, that will do. My chaeto has been growing already and have already seen lots of pods, worms, and a lot of other stuff. I think it's a great design for a newbie.

Here are the ugly pictures....

Hi Hurt, just a question about the fuge. Do you have anything where your chaeto is, like a mini ph to tumble and move your chaeto, or is just the movement of the water from your display tank. Thanks

Looks like your chaeto is doing well.
I have a 20 gallon that is basically housing live rock right now ever since my heater went crazy one night and cooked everything in the tank (even the live rock). I am thinking about using that for my fuge for my 55 gallon.
Should be a fun project.

My chaetomorpha does not tumble at all. As long as you harvest from the bottom of your chaeto there is no need for it to tumble. No power heads at all in my fuge, just my return pump which returns roughly 600gph to my DT.

Hey Reno, what kind of light you have over your fuge?
I have those lowe's daylight bulbs, i believe is 6000k daylight something like that is the spiral bulb, the funny looking one. It seems they grow better in those lights than others. i use to have PC over my other sump, but comparing the chaeto grows better with the daylight bulb. i think it cost like $5.00 or something.
