hello, i am interested in some different shroom varieties. they don't have to be attached to rocks. i've heard that you can ship them in little film containers so it shouldn't be much of a prob to ship. all i have are the red with green stripe variety, and would like some different ones to grow and frag myself. i could do a trade if someone's interested. email me: byrself76@yahoo.com. thanks! :)

I've heard priority mail works well if shipped in a small thermos or the like. I've got a few small rocks with several different kinds of shrooms on 'em. I have bullseye, blue, red, purple-ish and green striped.

Just my 2 cents on Priority Mail-
Aviod it at all costs. I bought something from someone on swf.com and I sent payment to them via priority only to have it take nearly 2 weeks to get to them (2-3 days my butt). This is not the first time the USPS has screwed me over either. They treat their packages like doo doo. I sent a CD to my sister and it took over a month to get to her from St. Louis to Wilmington, NC and when it did arrive it was in a plastic baggie from the USPS. They also broke just about everything I sent through them (glassware, collectables, dinnerware) when I moved and the process is such a pain to get reimbursed that it just wasn't feasible.
Anyway to make a long story short if you have to use the USPS, just use regular mail. It will get there in the same amount of time if not faster with regular 1st class over priority. Otherwise I reccommend FEDEX Ground or UPS. for something as small as a 4x4x4 package it's roughly the same as the USPS.
Just trying to help people not get shafted like I did. I think the only priority the USPS has with priority mail is making sure your package gets the worst treatment possible and arrives as late as humanly possible.

Good to know there are more reefers in Baton Rouge. I have some BRIGHT green shroom's that I picked up from Marks, Its a small colony now, but growing. If I knew how to collect a couple I would be willing to trade.

irishstout,
email me at byrself76@yahoo.com and i'll send you some pics of the kind i have. they are real easy to frag, and actually you can just cut them off at the base and the cut peices will grow as well as the base that's left. that's how i've gotten mine to multiply. i can't tell you how many peices i got floating around my tank, from cuttings that fell from where i originally put them. my star polyps are ready to frag as well. maybe we could hook up and help each other out. i want some different stuff but can't seem to find anything else that i don't already have around here. i'm thinking of making a trip to some new orleans fish stores to shop for some variety. hit me up if you are interested. i live in denham.

oh, also, if you don't like to cut them, just place your rock in front of a powerhead for a few days and they will detach on their own. it's better that way because then you have a whole anemone to work with.
