Wanting some suggestions

I'm wanting someone to look at a picture of my tank and see what they would add to it to give it a more radiant color. I'm not wanting to add a whole lot at this point but I would like to take advantage of the lighting that I bought when I set up the tank. In addition to what is shown in the picture I also have a Large Purple Maxima clam and green leather toadstool. My tank is a 75 gallon and I am using two 250 watt metal hallides with four 65 watt power compacts. Please give any suggestions after looking at the pics. The tank has only been set up for about 3 months as well. My filtration is a sump converted to a refugium.

wow... I'm loving the magnificent foxface!!!! well, I would add a frag of frogspawn, some rainbow palys, fire and ice zoos, darth mauls, some candy canes, a coco worm or christmas tree worms, a red serpent star, green or pink star polyps, take out the damsels if you can, wait for some more coralline, and once the tank is more mature n stable I would get some montipora cap., pink birdsnest, some deepwater acro, stylophora, and some purple acros. Now, just remember to take it slowly when adding this. Just thought I would throw out a lot to spark some ideas! Love the tank n can't wait to see the progress.

well, I would go for the 4 stripe first as they were the terror in my tank before. I would try just grabbing it with a net while it's eating, putting some food in the net, netting it when the lights are off and it's sleeping... If all else fails, you can set a bottle trap which u can just cut the top off a 2 liter bottle, reverse it, and secure it on the bottle n throw some food in. If that fails, then get a small barbless hook n go fishing lol n I'm dead serious about that one. It's brought success to many reefers who have had damsel problems.

I'd find a nice-size frag of either a torch or frogspawn LPS, maybe a galaxea. Looks like you have a lot in the reddish brown colored corals....I'd find something in the blues and greens. I'm a huge fane of nebula palys, they're really great-looking too.

man those black and white 4 stripe damsels are bad news. I had 2 for my first fish, and they got so territorial. They would nip at all my fish. They some how managed to kill my blenny. I hated them so much that I had to take all my rock out of my tank just to get to catch them.

I got the damsel that you are talking about. I have tried so many times it is unbelievable but it just went right in the trap today. Maybe the happiest I have been about anything so far with my aquarium. They are a pest and no LFS should ever sell them to you with the idea that they will help "Start the biological cycle." They are absolutely not worth it. Now I'm just trying to get rid of the rest of the damsels. I.E. Yellow and Azure or Azule or whatever. They do not seem to be nearly as bad as the black and white though.

you need to get some corraline growth. check your calcium and alkalinity. If they are low, start dosing with a 2-part and you might start to get some purple corraline growth which will improve the drab green color the rocks are now.
Also, Id put a black background on the tank so that once you do get more colors in there, they will be more noticeable.
But its a great looking tank!

should I have considerable purple coralline growth so early? I didn't know for sure if it would happen now or if I should just be patient. What is a 2-part. I am using Purple Up and Reef Complete now and keeping my calcium levels at about 420 or so. Is this sufficient or should I do more?

LFS representative "hey 4 stripe damsels are the perfect fish for your tank. They can be kept with any fish. they are on sale today for 3.99" LOL sounds familiar?

or "green brittle star... will take care of detritus and overfeeding problem as well as your reef, CUC, and fish.. only $10"
GREEN DEATH BRITTLE STAR FTW!!! HAHAHAHA
Those tangs aren't going to have much longer in that tank... The other stuff should be fine though minus damsels.

Yup I think all you need right now is a background color. Your tank is very nice as it is and will add more color on it's own as the coralline starts to proliferate.
