WARNING pH monitors too close.

Just a warning to those who use constant diplay monitors. I had mine on the canopy of the tank so I could see it easily. It quit working right, and started giving me strange reading.......the probe is way past due for replacement, so I went and spent another 40 bucks on a new probe...........still didn't work, so I popped it open and found this. Just thought I would warn you guys to either seal them yourself somehow, or keep them in a dry area where saltwater won't corrode them. Sucks losing anything when everything costs so much. It was there for about three years.

It was a pinpoint anyway. I soldered a few broken connections after I cleaned up the corrosion, and now it reads only -1 ??????? Anyone understand what might cause it to only give the reading -1 ?

You must have a short somewhere. After having an overflow accident with mine, it wouldn't read, so I rinsed it thoroughly with alcohol and let it dry out. Until it was totally dry I got a -1 reading as well. It works now, and I moved it.
the -1 seems to be it's "error-somethings not right with me" message :)

Also could have damaged some of the components with all of the high resistance paths. Make sure you rinse it off well with some alchohol and let it dry for a day. You could use DI water, as it shouldn't harm anything either, but only if it is lab quality.
