watchman goby and pistol shrimp PVC burrow

I've been looking into getting a yellow watchman and pistol shrimp pair. My main concern is that the shrimp and goby wont pair up or will make a burrow where I can't see them. I wanted to get opinions on this idea, which has been used alot for jawfish. If I were to build a PVC "house" and stick the goby and shrimp in there before i placed them in my DT with it, do you think it will work?
I guess its all about luck really, but I figured I'd ask about any experiences you've had/heard about this method. Thanks.
