water change query

I am just about to do a water change on my 125. It will be the first one since hooking up my sump and fuge which added about 40 gallons. My question is that since I have a 20 gallon sump would it be ok to change out all that water and replace that or should i do some from there and some from the display? Or does it really matter at all????
Of course assuming I have the same temp/salinity.
thanks
:)

I don't think it matters where you take it from. It is all circulating through the tank anyway.
It may be easier taking it from the sump. Just remember to either shut off your pumps, or keep an eye on them so they don't run dry.

I've done both and think it's much easier doing it from the sump.
When I did it from the top, I moved all the snails that were eating at the top towards the middle to bottom. Plus, doing it from the top kinda freaked out the firefish.
but whatever works best for you...

I do water changes from the sump. You can put a valve on the sump so you can just open it up and connect a hose to drain it and than pump it back in.
