10 % per week and if you are stocking fairly aggressively, a 20% would not hurt
i fyou don't mind, might i add that you are already slightly aggressively stocked, the blue hippo will get quite large by itself, and more than exceed the capacity for a 30 gallon tank,
sorry, but i just thought you should know, if you didn't already

ya i know alot of people say that but you know what hes 1.24 inches and hes staying in my tank period end! hes doing fine.. i have a 125 gallon i just ordered. he wont grow that quick ill hve it by june...custom..

It's hard to say how often and what size water changes you should make.
Sort of trying to predict the future.
Your water change routine should be based upon your water quality test results - not arbitrary numbers pulled out of the air.
If you have an increasing concentration of nitrates - then water changes are one way to reduce them.
The problem with too many water changes in my opinion and others, is first off knowing the quality of your saltwater mix and freshwater source. If you have nitrates or phosphates in your freshwater, you're taking a risk of making things even worse off with a lot of water changes, than if you did fewer.
If your freshwater is tainted with these unwelcome compounds, your freshwater top offs to replace evaporated water, AND frequent water changes using this water is going to eventually be bad news for your tank.
You'd be adding what you trying to remove.
Test the water.
Use RO or RO/DI water, or at least test your tap water for nitrates and phosphates and use a dechlorinator if it's city water.
Determine your water change percentage and frequency from there.

I agree with broomer, I do 10% but adjust depeding on what is goin on in the tank. For example if I add LR or a fish I might increase water change.

I like a 20% wate change for a 75 gal about every 2 wks. It is not to much and removes fish and other creature wastes as well as new trace elements and so on. Always same temp or a touch higher not lower. In my area I have to use Collagan (sp ??) water from WalMart. This water is always produced the same. I live in the country and am the last on the water line and quality is not that good (metals). Some people do a gallon a day to not to disturb. This may be an excellent idea or busy work I don't know which.
I don't think the size of the tank matters but I think the percentage is very important. Not to much to seem new - not to much to get behind.
