Should I turn off my whole system to take the water out and then add my new RO made water? Or should I leave everything running? The only thing is, once I start taking water out water won't be flowing into the overflow...lol.
What do you guys/gals do?

when you say "system" does that mean having a dispaly tank and a sump? If so how big is your sump? I have a 40 gallon sump, whenever i do a water change i'll take about 20 gallons out of the sump then put another 20 of new saltwater in etc. etc....

I shut down my whole system when I do the changes. I do them as quick as I can. Usually takes me less than 1/2 hour to do a 20% change.

Just to be safe I would. I've got a thing with sticking my arms in my tank with a buch of electrical equipment running in it.

chunkysoup...maybe I'm confused by what exactly a sump is. The overflow box takes the water from my tank, down to the skimmer area where there is 2 heaters, then it flows through a filter and over bio balls, through another sponge type filter, then past the UV sterilizer and back to the tank. Is there a sump in that equation? lol If so, I wasnt aware. I bought the whole system used from someone and it works fine (fingers crossed). Thanks for listenin!
