I WILL START OUT BY TAKEING OUT A BUCKETS WORTH OF WATER WHICH WILL BE ABOUT 6G AND THEN I AM GOING TO FILL THE BUCET BACK UP WITH FRESH WATER TREATED WITH AMQUEL THEN DO I PUT SALT IN THE BUCKET OR POUR THE WATER INTO THE TANK AND THEN ADD SALT?

do u have fish in the tank,if so you need to mix the salt with the water before adding it to the tank, making sure the salinity of the new water that u have mixed matches the one in the tank.

Hi, first please turn off the caps. secondly the meter will be ablet o read in the bucket after you mix it up in it. You also want to be aware that the temps should also be similar. You can warm the water in the sink full of hot water. Why 6 gallons? is that 10% of your tank volume.

You need to heat the water to the same temp as your tank otherwise the salinitly will be wrong. Try heating the water overnight with a powerhead for circulation, then add salt once temp is same as tank. Get salinity to same level as tank then add to tank.

Buy a rubbermaid garbage can and premix a months worth of saltwater, just keep it heated and circulating. Weekly 10% water changes will work wonders for your tank.
Also i concur, please do not type in caps it is considered extremely rude....fyi

The reason I asked on 6 gallons is because your info on the side says you have several tanks and if you change out 6 gal in a 10 gal tank your going to severly stress/kill the animals. From your readings I am sure recall you want to do about 10% of total volume. You might want to tote your bucket to the fish store and get some RO/DI water or even premixed saltwater, I use it sometimes in a pinch for time.

just poor the water in then dump a little bit a salt and then you can check it with the lick of a finger and if you taste salt than your good to go.

For doing water changes, use RO (fresh) water from your fish store. And use salt water instead of mixing its already done for you and it saves you money and time. and to take out the water buy a tube to siphen it out. I dont know what its called but your lfs will. Oh, AND HOW IS IT RUDE TO TYPE IN CAPS?
