Water change?

5 gals a week sound like a good amount of waterchange for a 55 gal tank? Im new, and ive read a lot... just want to make sure im doing things right. I know special cases can cause you to change more water, but for the norm... is 5 gallons a week sufficient.. Also im cycling my tank right now.. Thanks!

That's what I do on my 55g... works fine for me. As you said, situations may warrant larger changes but as a routine change IME 5g a week is fine... assuming your water parameters stay in line.

You shouldn't be changing your water until your tank is finished cycling.
