Just out of curiosity, if the water parameters are good, should you still change water out? I have all zeros except for .5 on the nitrates, I have changed water, changed water, and changed water, still sits at .5. So I gave up on getting a zero there, but if it is all good, why change?

There are trace elements in the saltwater mix to maintain a healthy marine tank. That's why if you keep up on water changes you don't have to dose your tank for things like iodine. You must never dose for what you don't test for
. You won't have to test for those elements if you do the water changes. If you overdose certain elements you poison the tank...water changes are the easiest way to be sure the water quality is optomum for marine life.
For a tank under a year old .5 isn't bad at all...unless you want SPS coral.
