I have about 60lbs. of live rock, a protein skimmer, a canister filter, two power heads, six fish, snails and crabs in my 55gal. reef tank. How often do I need to change the water and how much?
There are many opinions on this subject, but the norm is like 20% every month or so. I prefer at least a 10% every week. I usually change ten gallons a week on my 58gal.

At least 5 gallons every week IMO. I do 3 a week in my 29. If your fish are big and you feed a lot you could do 10 gallons a week. Fish can take funkier water than corals but I wouldn't be to chinchy on the water changes.
