with 75 lbs of sand you probably have a good 3" deep sand bed right? You dont want to be stirring up the sand too much as after the tank matures some, it can release extra nitrates and toxins into the water. Flow is the key. If you can get water to flow around your rocks and across the sand(gently) it will keep the detrius and diatoms and other junk suspended so that your filters can remove it.

perhaps I need to explain a little more... gph = gallons per hour, and what I mean by turnover is how many times do your power heads and mechanical filtration pump 55 gallons per hour...
turning your tank 11 times per hour is 605 gph...

I was told on another post that I had 11.3 gph also here is a picture before adding 20lbs more LR.

looks like you have 2 power heads, one one each end of the tank and a hang on the back filter of some sort? Has to be way more than 11 gph. Check to see what hte ratings on the power heads are. it was probably 11x that you had

yup...what NY said... what kind of powerheads are they... even at 2 powerheads rated at 150 gph you are turnin your tank almost 6 times...

Depends on what your planning on having. If its just going to be fish with live rock your probably alright as long as you dont have any "dead spots" but if you wnat to have corals and other inverts. Its recommended at least having 20X or more.

10 to 15 times is a good rule of thumb in a FOWLR... more flow wouldnt hurt, but focus on the LR... research and be patient... looks as though you are on the right path

get into normal maintenance routine, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly...

I just read one of your other threads and it sounds like your LFS may not be the most knowlegable. I would take what they say with a grain of salt and confirm anything they tell you on here before you go by their advice. There are a few of us that have decent LFS near us but there are many that have had horror stories with theirs.
