Water changes

I have a 54 gallon coror tank and am useing an octogon 15 gallon refugium I have been doing 5 gallon water changes every week I figur the refugium with my equipment and sand is hoding approx 12 gallons of water Am I better off doing 10 gallon per week water changes?

I.M.O. 20% weekly will keep your tank healthy.

Saltysteve, A lot depends on how populated your tank is and how much attention you pay while feeding. Also, what are your tank parameters, PH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Calcium, Magnesium and Alkilinity levels. All these play an important role in how often and how much water you change. Also, are you using tap water, RO, or RO/DI water to mix your salewater with?
Five gallon changes once a week may be enough. Test your water and get back to us. You can't just arbitrarily decide on 10% or 20% or 5 gallons or 10 gallons. You could be wasting money. Make a decision based on knowledge and facts not speculation.

I agree with the above. Good advice and good questions that need to be answered first.
