Water Changes

I've been told that a 20%-30% water change every three weeks is ideal, but I would like to know if a 10% weekly water change would be just as good, better or worse? I guess the thing that concerns me is that with more frequent smaller changes, am I removeing ENOUGH water at a time to make a difference?
For me, with a 46 gallon tank, a 10% change means I can use a 5 gallon bucket, which I prepare ahead of time to let the salt desolve completely and the water temp rise to room levels. (I am also using a A.P. Tap Water Purifier soit takes about 30-40 minutes to fill 5 gals.)

I have a 55 gallon and I do the same thing you said. About 5 gallons a week. That has worked great for me. You are changing enought water as far as i am concerned.

My personal opinion:
Whether it is 10% a week or 20-30% every three weeks the point is CONSISTENCY AND REGULARITY
The fish will have constancy in there lives which is what they get in there natural habitat.
