Water Circulation question. PLEASE HELP!

Hello. I have a 20 gallon tank and had a power head of 110 MAX GPH and my fish where really happy swimming everywhere. I just switch to a water pump 400 MAX GPH because
I had a lot of algae on my live rock and I though well maybe it is because the water flow/circulation is not to strong. I am worried because my clown fish seem really stressed and struggle to swim around. I don't any coral right now, but I am going to purchase some really soon. My question is: Should I switch back to the power head of 110 MAX GPH or stay with the water pump 400 MAX GPH?

I would switch it out to 2 smaller powerheads angled different directions instead of one blasting powerhead.

I agree, you want to mimic the waves of the sea and being able to direct tha power heads to get that effect is better than one staedy stream from a single power head. You want to blow the junk off the rocks so nothing settles and at the same time oxygenate the water.
Most of our fish are purchased very young...clownfish are little guys anyway. However the good strong flow builds strength and is good for the fish to struggle a little in the current. You don't want to blow the poor fish away, but a good put your head down and push against the current to get where you want to go is healthy.

Sweet!! Yeah that makes total sense. :) So then I will change to 2 small power heads. My fish will be happy and not as much of junk settling down on my live rock. THANK U!
