How long does a 5 gal bucket of TAP water need to sit before I can put it in my tank? I have city water not well water.
Any thoughts on using AmQuel Plus?
Put a powerhead in it for a couple days and then test it if possible with a TDS meter.
Other option might be to buy water from a trusted LFS or mega-mart.
letting the water sit will only allow the water to 'off gas' chlorine. I would worry about the TDS (total disolved solids) minerals, phosphates, copper, sulfer, etc... that would remain in the water...
have you considered a RO/DI filter?
I would love a RO but $ is alittle tight at the moment so I have been letting the water sit for ~48 hrs before adding. I also add the Amquel Plus but have heard mixed thoughts on this. I will try testing my water and will get a TDS meter. Thanks!!
