There is a product on the market thats a little differant than a ro di filter unit and its called a water distiller.these filters work by condensing water into steam than back into water drops too be collected by a container leaving the minerals and such behind in the basin which is made of stainless steel {depending on manufactuer} and clorine and florine is dispersed as out of the top of the unit by a fan.there is also a second filter in the form of activated carbon before the water is collected in the bottle or depending on unit, a additional basin.
These filters do work and when they are done filtering if you look into the unit it smells bad and you can view the junk and mineral deposits left behind such as calcium or whatever.it clearly makes a statement as to what filtering is being done {if any filtering at all is being done before the water enters are home}
The water distillers due not waste water as ro di units due at least not much,you can buy at www.waterdistiller.com and they due take trade ins if you want to upgrade to a better unit.

25cents per gallon that is really expencive. you can buy distilled for .25 and all you need is a bottle. the cost of lost water is less then the .25 for electicity. jmho

You do have to pay your water bill yes?the distillers do not have too work all the time and there is no cartridges to change or psi meters or synthetic resins that become clogged or perhaps a by-pass is created if not checked properly{the ones without the psi meters need to be checked manually}and people are paying as much as 50 cents per gallon for filtered water and some 35 cents a gallon.
