Hey,
As a general rule, yes. More importantly, you want good surface water agitation to help airate the water.
Some corals don't like a lot of water movement since they come from tide pools and calm lagoons. Most corals however come from reefs with strong tidal current.
BTW, you will have some "dead spots" where power heads don't move the water enough. It's a good idea to go in once in a while with a turkey baster and blow those areas to clean them out. One author I read calls this the hurricane treatment. (simultates natures way of cleaning up!)

Since you have a 75 gallon, I would suggest getting two powerheads for your aquarium....water movement is always key.
