pH problems are typically caused by a failure to understand the chemistry.
NEVER add so called pH buffers because they simply are not - you need to track alkalinity and calcium to be sure that your pH issues is actually chemistry or due to circulation.
I see no issues with a pH of 7.9 if it is reasonably stable. Check pH a few hours after lights out to get a low reading, and after lights have been on several hours.
But you definitely need to know alk and calcium before addressing anything.
