water movement in 37 gal tank

i have a 37 gallon reef tank and i am trying to figure out what kind of maxi jet to get should i just buy 1 maxijet 900 (230gph) or buy 2 400's (106gph). and what is the size difference in the 2 pumps?

the one that has a higher gph rate is larger..but you proboly figured that out already, sorry i have a different brand power head i cant tell you the dimentions of yours.

dont know about the 400, but i have some MJ 600,900,and 1200s and they are the exact same size.

oh and to answer which to get, go with 2 900s if you are running a reef.

well i have an eclipse 3 hood setup with the filtration and it says it puts out 230 gph already and my lfs says that would be good enough! what should i do

Ideally you want to have 20X tanks size for good reef flow. which is 740. I would ingnore the LFS. I would pick up a seio 620 or two maxi jet 1200 "600GPH with your hood would be nice and aim both or one powerhead at surface of water.
