basically once you change the water you are removing the nitrate.. you arent 'adding' anything that is going to further lower it.. small frequent water changes are the best way to go

Keep doing water changes until they are close to 0. then add your fish back once they are finished in your qt and your trates are down.

checked water again today, nitrate is at 20, nitrite 0, ammonia .25, ph 8.2-8.4, salt 1.022, and temp 79-80. so it looks like the nitrates are sitting steady from yesterday. LFS said nitrate will come down on its own since i did the 25 gallon water change, but i believe about 1/4 of what an LFS says anyway.
