HEY WOLF...
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE GPH(GALS.PER HOUR)RECOMMENDATIONS ARE FOR THAT CPR UNIT...HOWEVER, THEY PROBABLY HAVE A WEBSITE TO CHECK FOR THE PUMP RECOMMENDATION...
IF THEY RECOMMEND SOMETHING IN BETWEEN THE M/D
PUMPS GPH, THEN I WOULD GO FOR THE BIGGER ONE AS
YOU CAN KICK IT BACK WITH A BALL VALVE TO THE
PROPER FLOW RATE...

Is there anywhere you can see flowrates by pipe diameter. I was wondering what the difference between 3/4", 1", and 1 1/4" is. Or does it depend on the CPR unit itself and your tank & sump water levels.

If money allows, get the bigger pump, you can always put a ball valve inline to regulate the flow. Or, like what I did with one and in process of doing with the other, run a "T" off the return line to a ball valve and then you have an additional source for some flow if needed. Mine goes to a little rubber maid plastic box with mangroves, then a gravity feed back to the sump. This is of course if you are using PVC.

How does this sound, a mag7 from my sump to my tank, hagen 802 powerhead from my sump to a protein skimmer then to my tank. All this with a 600gph overflow.

I purchased the mag 7 to take water from sump below aquarium up thru a spray bar, about 4 feet total...i was not pleased with the performance. water pressure was too low. I didn't realize how low until I hooked the little giant up. Now I lift the water from the basement up and thru a 3/4 inch spray bar, and still have plenty of water pressure to spare for the mangroves, and a slow down adjustment on the return line. Huge difference with the overflow capabilities and water circulating through the tank. Really gave me an idea of how slow the mag 7 was.

I am not sure and want to know about the lifetech pump as well. Looks like an ehim but is 2x's cheaper. There is one rated at 1400 GPH for 40.00$ now that is cheap!!!

Whats up with Rio pumps. I have two running from my sump to my tank.
Stilling running strong. NO complaints here. Good pumps for the money.

I have one Rio pump as well. The only problem I have had in the last 2 years with it, is I had to replace the impellor - which I bent by not seating it correctly after a cleaning
It is not a very quiet pump, but neither is the Mag. Both produce a very noticeable hum when turned on.

I would be cautious about using a mag7 in a dry set up. They are great pumps but they are known to leak. I have had 2 & both leaked, one a little, one so bad I had to return it. The Mag9.5 & larger pumps have a diffrent design so they dont leak as easy. I would go with a 9.5 or larger if you can. If you have to use a mag7 can you submerge it in your sump? If not then look into a Quiet one pump. HTH, just my .02 from my past experience.

I have 3 LifeTechs on my 75 gallon tank now. I am using the AP3500 from sump to tank (not sure of gph). I am also using two LifeTech 1500 (290 gph - 1100 lph) for circulation in my tank. They are very quite, and I have not had any problems with them yet, I recommend them for their price.
