water question

Does anyone have an opinion on the sink attachments that purify the water. An RO/DI system is not in my budget. Am I better off buying distilled water or will a filter attachment for my sink work? I do not need a lot of water because my tank is only 12 gallons. If anybody has a sink filter attachment that they are happy with please let me know. thanks
Anyone have a recommendation for a nano tank protein skimmer? All I have heard about the nano fission is negative.

A sink attachment is not going to remove what all you are going to need removed,.
In a tank so small it is already going to be a challenge to keep things on the straight and narrow. You do not need to be adding questionable water in the mix. Check your local fish store. Many of them sell RO/DI water. I would suggest picking up a jug or two, and picking up water from one of these places one a week. Just make sure to get enough to cover top off and water changes. I would also invest in a little insurance policy of you will buying your water from someone else. I would pick up a portable TDS meter. they run about $30bucks. These are used to test RO/DI water to ensure that you are infact getting what you pay for. Water going into a Saltwater tank really shouldn't have a TDS reading above 4. Of corse Zero is best. But once you go above a 4 you will be pushing water quality, espeacailly in a 12 tank.

im confused too...so you don't run a skimmer and just do many small water changes weekly? and everything is OK?

Isn't the water you can get from most Wal-Mart stores ro di water? If so, beats buying more equipment.

You can't always trust that the water will come from the same place and is processed the same way. Use a tds meter. Buy water from anywhere is ok, just use a TDS meter. Today you may find Distilled water that reads less than 10, next week that same water may be higher.

lots of places sell them, airwaterice is one. i think i can suggest them, since this site doesn't sell tds meters.
