I have a 90 gallon tank that was set up on 9/15/01. I have one yellow tang and three damsels in it. It was a FO tank until two days ago I added about 10-15 lbs of LR. I did this because I will be adding an Golden Tail Eel hopefully soon ( the fish will be relocted to another tank). But still to this day I have red/brown algae. I have done two water changes in the las two weeks on it. The last one being on Wednesday night.
I checked my water last night:
Nitrite .1
Nitrate 10
Amonia 0
I dont understand why my nitrate is 10, if everything else is low. What else sould I test? My only concern for my tank is it runs a 79-82 degrees due to the lighting. Im currently working on ventilation for it. Could this water heat be the cause of the algae? Or is my tank still cycling?
Thanks!
