I have a plastic 55 gallon drum, but have heard stories of leaching toxics from the plastics. Could I line it with a couple of 55 gallon black trash bags?? Thanks
I think you would get more leech from the bags then the plastic...that hard plastic won't leech into your water unless you are storing for extended period ( months) that is my 2 cents
One problem I have is that I don't know what was in it first. I found it dumped next to a trash can and it had some pink liquid in it. Im thinking it was soap of some sort, it foamed up when cleaning it out.
So many people use plastic trash cans and Ive used a plastic barrel for about a year with no problems. I will continue to watch and see if anyone has anything bad to say but I would be surprised

I wouldnt use it on my tank because I am paranoid, but I would think it should be fine with many rinses.
I would fill it with tap water and let it sit for a week or so, then test it for phosphates. Soap is a big cause of phosphates which are a major cause of algae.

You must of snuck this in on me. Not knowing what was in it put it back where you found it. Do Not Use
