That temperature should be fine for the truly tropical fish. Just be careful to not overcrowd them. Good water circulation helps as well.

That is cutting it close. Keep an eye on your fish respiration. Heavy "breathing" is probably a sign of low dissolved oxygen. D.O. drops off rapidly as temperature increases.
You may need to buy a chiller if you want to keep a higher fish load.

have you tried putting a fan facing the tank? or keep the room temp lower? once we uncovered the ac ven in front of the tank we haven't had a problem. also as long as the temp doesn't change too much in a short time.
