my water temp in my reef tank is always like low 80's. Is this ok. And also i picked up a piece of coral that literally smelled like sh^^t. Should i take it out?

Yeah, take it out, and its okay to keep the tank in the 80's, but not if you have corals, and it really shouldn't get abopve like 84

Depending on how well your reef is running before you put in that LR. All that will happen is you'll get a ammonia spike then nitrite then nitrate. The smell just means the store didn't cure it. They really shouldn't have sold it to you without you nowing this. You might get a little algea bloom too. You could also cure it in another container of water but will need a powerhead and skimmer in it.
