If the kit is harder it takes longer to become consistent and with calcium that is what maters. When I only need to be between 420-500ppm I will use the cheep API if I need more precision then I use Salifert or some other.
Fair enough. The API is definitely easier to use than some of the others. When we test for calcium with the Red Sea Pro or the Salifert kits, it takes my husband and I both to do it properly.

what is with red seas alk test? came in the mater reef kit. but as far as i can tell its always high and the chart only goes to 3.6 which according to conversion charts is actualy good - low. Am i looking at it wrong?
