Water Testing

I currently test my FOWLR tank about once a week. I test for amonia, nitrates, nitrites, ph and chlorine.
Do I need to test for calicum or other elements?
Also the tests that I use are the ones that you dip and turn color. It seems very hard to have any accuracy with those. ARe there better tests out there that will give me more accurate and percise readings?

Its not necessary unless as said your wanting to grow coraline. I have a 55 g agressive and all I check for is, Trate, Trite, Amm and Ph.

Not everyday. Let it take its course. Youll get an ammonia spike then back down. After cycle is over then test and do a small water change.

Test every few days so that you'll know that, indeed a spike did happen, and you will do well to always record the #'s on paper to see them change and know where you are in the cycle.

I just ordered and received salifert tests from this site. I must say, pretty intense but very accurate tests. Salifert is the best.
